Wallaceburg Farmers' Market
Since 2017 our market has been run by local volunteers with support from the BIA. The Wallaceburg Farmers' Market is an outdoor bi-weekly market in the heart of Downtown Wallaceburg. We run from June till October featuring around 20 local farmers and artisans. After the success of 2021 we can't wait to see you for our 2022 season.

CK Public Health recognizes how vital the Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market is to the community. “We are happy to take part in the Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market and belong to a group of farmers in Chatham-Kent, taking pride in providing the best local produce.” I adore the Wallaceburg Farmer’s Market. There is a great selection of products from vendors who are truly passionate about their offerings. This was my first year attending and I will tell you that this market was more than a shopping event to me. It gave me something to look forward to and provided some normalcy in my life. I simply adored every visit. Thank you! Keep up your hard work. You have made a difference" |
Keeping together….while staying apart: the Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market Written by CK Public Health November 2020 Service groups, community organizations, and local businesses have faced incredible challenges to operate as close to normal as possible. Each of these groups and organizations make the community a better place to live. The Wallaceburg Farmers Market Volunteer Committee in partnership with the Downtown Wallaceburg BIA has been operating a Farmers’ Market since 2017. Each year it has grown with more dates and vendors, providing the community with a social setting to buy food and artisanal goods produced locally. “We knew we had to make the market happen safely this year more than any other year, so we reached out to the local health unit for guidance,” says Kelsey Nydam, Coordinator of the Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market Nydam further adds, “With so many people struggling in various ways, having a community space to safely see others and get fresh produce was a huge priority for us” CK Public Health recognizes how vital the Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market is to the community. We were able to supply advice on setting up physical distancing barricades, hand sanitizer stations, positive messaging on staying safe, and directional arrows. The market successfully implemented each of these important public health measures while witnesses record breaking sales for their local vendors. The Wallaceburg Farmers’ Market operates outdoors in the 708 James Street parking lot, in Downtown Wallaceburg. They had nine dates this year, running every other Saturday from June 20th through Thanksgiving. Thanks to their efforts to keep everyone safe, visitors were able to purchase products and enjoy a sense of community at a distance. Thank you for your continued support to the community, and thank you for bringing the community together: while staying apart. Record Breaking 2020 Season
This 2020 season we had 9 dates every-other week beginning in June and ending Thanksgiving Weekend. With the pandemic our volunteer committee and local vendors were all nervous about how to keep everyone safe and whether or not the community would come out. With help from the Health Unit and detailed planning we has a set up that we encourage the best social distancing and sanitization practices.
With amazing support from the community EVERY market day we saw record attendance numbers (up to 940) and record sales for our vendors. This was only possible because of the local love in our community, our quality vendors, our dedication to uphold safe practices, our amazing sponsors Acres Unlimited inc. and Dover Corn, and our wonderful volunteer committee. |
Becoming a Vendor
Before every season we release an online application form for our vendors. As a true farmers' market we maintain that all markets have 60% produce vendors! Therefore, there is not as much space for artisans. Our volunteer committee goes though every application giving preference to local farms and local artisans with 100% hand crafted items. We do not allow resell vendors. Follow our Facebook Page for updates as we navigate the pandemic and prepare for the 2022 season!
